At Culinary Institute by VejleErhverv we always try to explore our creative and innovative mindset. As a result this has led to a variety of different food events. From the anual Lobster Festival on Læsø, The Potato Award to Taste the Art. Keep an eye on this page if you're interested to learn more about, what we have sheduled for 2023.

DAY OF CLIMATE

Spinderihallerne, Vejle


Saturday, January 28, 1.30 PM - 5.30 PM

For the official day of climate it's all about climate. Among many things you will get the inspiration and tools to live more climatefriendly in your everyday life. It's all happening from 1.30 - 5.50 PM at Spinderihallerne, Spinderigade 11, 7100 Vejle. And it's all free of charge!

Saturday, February 18 - tuesday, February 21

Make connections og collaborations through a cultural, sport event. Under the theme, Food, you can experience Rasmus Munk, chef and co-owner of the Michelin restaurant, Alchemist, who will tell you more about future food and eating habits. Under the theme, tourism, you can get inspirered by our culinary leader, Per Mandrup.

CHEF & WAITER OF THE YEAR

Madværkstedet, Lokomotivværkstedet, Copenhagen


Tuesday, March 21 - Wednesday, March 22

The final in Chef & Waiter of the year will be conducted during Madværkstedet - the big food fair of the year. Per Mandrup is once again ready behind the scene to help and facilitate the participants in the kitchen. On tuesday, March 22nd the Danish Championship for culinary students, waiter- and catering apprentices will take place.

Friday, June 9 - Saturday, June 10

Once again we are ready to consume Vejle with the most delicius food and fun activities for the enture family. Søndertorv, Rådhustorvet og Nørretorv will be filled with food stands where you will get the chance to meet local restaurants and manufacturers. Taste local ingredients, experience Vejle Championship in Hotdog and enjoy the best from Vejle. So mark your calender! 

VEJLE MASTERS IN HOTDOG

Saturday, June 10

For the third year in a row, we are ready to taste the most creative and flavorful hotdogs. In the Vejle Masters in Hotdog, a selection of elementary school students will rethink the traditional hotdog. The finals will once again be held in connection with Vejle MADfest, where all proceeds will go directly to a charitable cause. Learn more about the competition and sign up here. 

LÆSØ LOBSTER FESTIVAL

Læsø


Saturday, August 5 at 10:00am - 3:00pm

A selection of chefs will once again compete in the competition for the Golden Lobster Claw. The purpose of the competition is to highlight the lobster as the main ingredient and to reflect Læsø's DNA in the dish. Our culinary leader, Per Mandrup, will again be firmly seated at the judge's table for the 17th consectutive year.

Sunday, August 27

Local Cooking is set out to focus on local ingredients. As a participant it's all about presentation the judging panel for the best dish and story, with local ingredients at heart. More infomation will follow. Se pictures from Local Cooking 2019 here.

DAY OF TASTE 2023

Wednesday, September 27

The day of taste focuses on the sense of taste and teaching students to taste. The goal is to get students to think about what they put in their mouths and why they do it. As a teacher, you can receive materials for grades 4-7 and elective courses. The theme varies from year to year, so keep an eye out for when the theme for 2023 is announced.

POTATO ACTIVITIES

Rådhustorvet, Vejle 


Monday, Octover 16 - Wednesday, October 18

Autumn break is synonymous with potatoes. We are repeating the success from 2022 and turning Rådhustorvet into a potato mecca, filled with various activities for the entire family. So grab your children and try to dig for potatoes in the sand and let our magical potato machine turn the potatoes into chips or peel the longest potato peel. More information to follow.

THE POTATO AWARD

Food Innovation House, Vejle 


Sunday, October 22

The Potato Award is an unconventional chef competition, where a selection of innovative and creative chefs will cook a 3-course meal with the potato as the centerpiece. A respected panel of judges will be invited to judge the dishes of 6 selected participants. The winner can, among other things, go home with a travel grant of 20,000 DKK. Tuesday, October 24 - Wednesday, October 25

This year's cooking competition for elementary school students, where it's all about getting creativity into play and cooking a whole dish, either appetizer, main course or dessert, with the potato as the centerpiece. Based on pictures and recipes, a maximum of 16 teams will be selected to participate in the final. Read more about the competition and sign up here.

DENMARK EATS TOGETHER

Tuesday, October 24 - Wednesday, October 25

The public movement against loneliness is behind the concept, Denmark Eats Together, which is launched to gather Danes around food and community. It takes place in week 45 and once again Vejle Municipality would like to support it, as we did in 2022 with the Tartelet festival. More information to follow.
